REGISTERED PHYSIOTHERAPISTS

Cheryl Applewhaite BPT, RCAMT, CCTT
Cheryl graduated from the University of Alberta in 1977 and established Corona Station Physical Therapy Ltd in 1988. Her extensive knowledge base includes many post-graduate courses detailing the anatomy and physiology and biomechanics of the jaw and spine.  In 1993, she obtained her provincial and medical certification in acupuncture.  Intermediate certification in manual therapy was successfully completed in 2000.  In 2005, Cheryl attended the TMD and Orofacial Pain Mini– Residency program at the University of Minnesota, School of Dentistry.  The American Academy of Orofacial Pain Conference in spring 2007 brought her up to date with current research findings and evidence-based practice guidelines. At this conference, Cheryl wrote and passed the certification exam of the Physical Therapy of Craniofacial and Cervical Therapeutics. She is now a Certified Cervical and Temporomandibular Therapist (CCTT). Workplace health promotion and consultation in ergonomic issues allow for comprehensive care.    Cheryl has been an active member of a multi-disciplinary group that meets monthly to further their knowledge in the cranio-cervical area.

Robin Smith, MScPT, B Kin
Robin received her Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of Alberta in 2008. Prior to that, she received her B.Sc. in Kinesiology from the University of Victoria. While in Victoria, she worked as a strength trainer and athletic therapist for various teams and clubs including the Univerisity of Victoria Vikes and the BC Soccer Association.
Robin strongly encourages “functional fitness” and sport-specific conditioning. She has been involved with lacrosse teams in Edmonton and enjoys working with people of all abilities and activity interests. During a treatment session, Robin uses a combination of manual therapy, specific rehabilitative exercises for stretching and strengthening, and education regarding recovery and prevention. She is certified to perform spinal manipulation and acupuncture, and does custom orthotic prescription

Kerri Graham, BScPT
Kerri grew up in Yellowknife, NT.  She graduated from the University of Alberta in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy.  Since this time, she has worked primarily in private practice settings in Edmonton and surrounding areas, as well as New South Wales, Australia.  She has treated a varied number of orthopaedic conditions, including those of a motor vehicle accident and sports related nature.  Over the years, Kerri has attended a variety of post graduate courses in the areas of manual therapy, exercise prescription and acupuncture, to name a few.  She is presently certified with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada to provide medical acupuncture and is on the spinal manipulation roster with the College of Physical Therapists of Alberta.  She is a strong believer in the provision of individualized, quality care and strives to help clients be as independent and involved in their rehabilitation as possible.  Outside of work, Kerri loves to spend time with her family, hike and travel.   

Alexandra Meropoulis, BPE, MScPT, CSEP
Alex graduated from the University of Alberta, Masters of Physical Therapy program in 2010 and joined our team soon thereafter. Prior to this, Alex completed a Bachelors of Physical Education Degree from the U of A in 2008.
Alex possesses a level one certification in Manual and Manipulative Therapy, is certified with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada and is also working towards her Sports Physiotherapy Certificate. In addition, Alex is  a Certified Personal Trainer through the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiologists.

Alex has an interest in sports related injuries and in returning clients back to active lifestyles. Alex has worked as a trainer with both rugby and soccer teams at various levels and is currently working with a youth soccer team in developing a training program aimed at decreasing the risk of knee injuries. She is an avid rugby player and enjoys running, rock climbing and other outdoor adventures 

Hercules Grant, BScPT, M.Ed
Hercules completed his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta in 1984. He then completed a Master’s degree through Educational Psychology in 1993 with emphasis on chronic pain. Hercules owned and managed a successful south-side physical therapy clinic until 2010. Since then he has been pursuing PhD studies in Rehabilitation Science at the University of Alberta. His most recent presentation was at the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) conference in San Francisco (June 2012) in the area of blood flow to the brain during functional activity. He has extensive experience in spinal care rehabilitation utilizing McKenzie treatment approaches which remains his preferred area of practice.

Jason Waddell, BscKin, MScPT
Jason graduated from the University of Alberta's Masters of Physical Therapy Program in the fall of 2012, and joined our team shortly thereafter. Prior to this, Jason completed a Kinesiology General Diploma at Red Deer College and finished his undergraduate science degree in kinesiology at the University of Alberta in 2010. Jason is working towards his Level One Manual Therapy and Accupuncture certificates, and his Certified Strength and Conditioning specialization.
Jason has an interest in working with sports related injuries. He was a varsity athlete during a few of his Post-Secondary schooling years. As well, Jason has an interest in working with the pediatric popluation as he also spends his time as a physiotherapist at the Stollery Childrens Hopsital.
