Life Inside Edmonton’s Corona Station Physical Therapy

Happy smiling woman with curly hair lounging on couch.

Hello readers!

My name is Bronwyn, and I am the lucky person writing our blog for May. My favourite part of working at Corona Station Physical Therapy is our team members. And that is why this month I want to bring you a little closer to us, to see what I get to see each day.

Our Fearless Leaders

Ashley is a great Physiotherapist but she is also our secret pillar of strength because of her hard work as Owner and Clinic Director. She keeps everything running smoothly and has put us at ease during this time of uncertainty. My favourite thing about Ashley is that she encourages opportunities to grow in your position and develop new skills and knowledge. What's Ashley's favorite thing about Physiotherapy? It's people returning and saying they can do something they couldn’t before! "Whether it’s related to work, hobbies or taking care of their kids, it’s always so rewarding to hear about gains that are really meaningful to people's lives."

Ehryn is full of knowledge and experience which makes him one of our most requested Physios, but he’s also a great boss. Ehryn always stands behind his employees and supports them when we need it. He’s also just a fun and cool person to chat with during break times. One of my favourite things about him is that he can open up your understanding in how you consider difficult situations. I’ve grown as a person and felt safe in my workplace because of Ehryn in his role of Clinic Owner.

Our Wonderful Physiotherapists

Kerri has been with us the longest and I think she is the most loveable person I’ve ever met. The care and compassion that she brings into the clinic is felt not just by her clients but the staff as well. She offers thorough explanations and treatments and is the epitome of quality care. It's easy to love Kerri, but what does she love? Time with family and good friends ranks high in her list. She's also a big fan of the Oilers and of sports in general- especially downhill skiing. Our staff has been blessed for years to enjoy her baking as well, including when she recreated a special birthday cake for me from a recipe that my grandmother used to bake.

Chantal is full of life and a warmth that fills the clinic when she's there. She always has a good recommendation for tasty food in Edmonton, UCCELLINO is her favorite, but I think the best pasta in the city is definitely her husband's. Chantal is very active, enjoying basketball, golf, and many other outdoor activities. Recently she's been enjoying getting out for walks with her young son, engaging him in the activity by branding them as Monster Hunts. It's this humour and good nature that is my favorite part of being her coworker. She really enjoys getting to know her clients and being a part of their recovery. "Being a Physio is hugely rewarding- you feel like you are on this exciting journey with people and get to be a part of their success stories."

Matt grew up with Physiotherapy a regular part of his life because he was an athlete. Part of what makes him a great Physical Therapist is that he has been through the recovery process himself. He enjoys getting to know his clients and staying active at work. He is such a great part of our team; all of our assistants love working with him and we appreciate that he always keeps an eye out for us as well. Matt has an easy going nature and is a great Physiotherapist. We recently had someone stop at the front desk to tell us "Thank you for giving me Matt. I'm doing so much better!" and she showed us how well she could move her arm again now.

Anastasia is the newest addition to our team and she has been an absolute pleasure to work with! She loves leading an active lifestyle and helping others enjoy being active as well. It was an easy choice for her to become a Physiotherapist because she was interested in anatomy and physiology since she was young. My favorite thing about working with her is her no-nonsense demeanor. She's knowledgeable and gives great explanations when we bring questions to her. Anastasia is serious but kind and understanding in a way that you feel safe in her hands.

Our Star Massage Therapist

Alec has been our resident Massage Therapist for many years. I probably know the least about Alec although I’ve known him the longest but what I can tell you is that he’s full of surprises. He is a tall and quiet man- so quiet that he occasionally gets a good giggle by startling the reception when he comes up to greet a client. Alec is really quite jovial and writes the best birthday card greetings. Best known for his deep tissue techniques and love of the outdoors, he contributes so much to our happy atmosphere.

Our Assistants

Brandi makes work not feel like work and she loves our clients as much as her coworkers. Our admin team doubles as assistants and I don't know where we'd be without Brandi for all of her hard work and support. Brandi is our funniest administrator and a great contributor to our board of jokes in the staff room. Recently she has been enjoying her time in an online workout group and we love hearing about her success each time they complete a challenge. She's very excited for camping season to start and spend time with her family outdoors!

Iris is our youngest and most skilled assistant. I remember when we first saw her resume, we knew she would be perfect for the team! She is fun to work with and inspires us with how fast she gets things done around the clinic. She loves being able to connect with our patients. "Seeing them progress and return back to their 100% is such an exciting moment! We’ve met a lot of amazing people and I’m happy to be a part of people’s journey to rehabilitation." Iris loves the outdoors and is often camping, hiking, and sightseeing during our warm weather months. She's a big fan of the northern lights and meteor showers as well as spotting wildlife at Elk Island.

Bronwyn- well, that's me! Over the years I've had a few clients ask me how I got started here and in fact, I only found my passion for Physiotherapy after I was hired! As a teenager I injured my shoulder and didn't tell anyone; I didn't even know Physiotherapy existed. Now that I work with so many amazing Physiotherapists and have built up my own knowledge over the years, I really get in the faces of my friends and family about getting Physiotherapy when they need it. It's been an amazing journey working at Corona Station Physical Therapy and I've developed a great love for helping people and making their recovery as smooth as possible. It's a true joy working as an assistant here with our funny little work family.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your read, and gotten to know our small but mighty team a little bit better. If you’ve worked with any of us and want to share your memories with us, please get in touch! Warmth and admiration for one another is what keeps us going through tough times such as these.
